Turnover

tuhn.oh.vuh

In a business context, turnover can have more than one meaning. It can either refer to the total income that a business generates over a specified period or the rate at which employees leave a company.

The two types of employee turnover are voluntary turnover (when an employee chooses to leave) and involuntary turnover (when an employee is asked to leave by the employer).
A lack of growth opportunities, feeling burnt out, a toxic work environment or simply a better offer are some of the most common reasons for turnover. Understanding the root causes of employee turnover will help companies make the necessary changes to retain talent.
